May 5, 2010 (China Knowledge) - Tianwei Group inked a contract with the Independent State of Samoa to build a 5 to 7-MW photovoltaic power station in Samoa, according to sources recently.
"The signed contract offered great opportunity for Tianwei Group in South Pacific island countries, and it would fasten the pace for the solar power cooperation between Chinese PV enterprises and Pacific island countries," said Ding Qiang, vice president of Tianwei Group.
The Independent State of Somoa is in the western parts of Somoan Islands in the South Pacific Ocean, comprises of SavaiI and Upolu and seven small islands. The sunshine is sufficient and there are no power equipments on the island, and the prospect of solar power is bright.
Tianwei Group has 14 new energy enterprises currently, and its sales income of new energy increased from RMB 7.97 million in 2003 to RMB 2.4 billion in 2009.
